As well as manual recliners, we repair electric recliners and lift chairs.
Electric recliners and lift chairs bring their own set of problems — a motor that won’t run, a footrest that won’t extend, a handset that’s stopped responding, or a cable that’s come loose or frayed. We work on the motor and reclining mechanism, the handset and its cables, and the footrest mechanism, alongside any structural or upholstery work the chair needs. We look over the frame, mechanism, motor (if fitted) and upholstery to see exactly what’s needed before any work starts.

Foam and fabric or leather are fitted by hand at our Carindale workshop. We can collect your recliner and drop it back once it’s done — see pick-up & delivery — or you’re welcome to drop it in yourself.

Often, yes. A motor that won’t run can be a wiring, connection or motor problem, and we check the motor, handset and cables to work out which. Send us a photo of the recliner and describe what it’s doing (or not doing) and we’ll let you know what’s involved.
A handset that’s stopped responding is usually a cable, connection or handset fault rather than the whole mechanism failing. We check the cables and connections between the handset and the motor before replacing anything.
It depends on the chair. A well-built recliner with a solid frame is often worth repairing — the mechanism, motor or upholstery can usually be fixed without buying a new chair. A recliner with a cracked frame or very low original quality is a different calculation. We’ll give you an honest opinion as part of your quote.
Yes. We can reupholster a recliner’s seat, back and arms in fabric or leather alongside mechanism, motor or frame repairs in the same job.
It depends on what’s actually wrong. A handle or footrest repair is a smaller job than a motor replacement or full reupholstery, and manual and electric recliners differ in what’s involved.
